Fiery Trial 1 Peter 4:12-13
A very important passage of scripture that focuses on the trials of life, especially when we may pay a price for following Jesus. Jesus came to earth manifest himself to us through Father God and the Holy Spirit , to show us how to follow him, and to be the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. In the Old Testament the Hebrews had to make crop and animal sacrifices to reconcile (redeem themselves) with God; to pay for their sins and receive forgiveness from God. Jesus came to be the ultimate sacrifice for us as believers in Him for all time. No more would it be necessary for the Hebrews to make periodic crop and animal sacrifices to God to pay for their sins and receive forgiveness. But this only applies if they would follow Jesus, believe in Him as the Son of Father God, worship Him, and obey Him. Jesus made His authority and identity as the only begotten Son of Father God clear through His many miracles, raising many from being dead, and His own resurrection on Easter Sunday. Many have paid a price for following Jesus. Many have been murdered for their faith in Jesus. John the Baptist was beheaded, at the request of a lusty teenage girl, thorough the authority of King Herod. Stephen, one of the disciples was stoned to death, for being a disciple of Christ. So if and when you may face jeopardy, challenges, and rejection for following Jesus, do not be overly dismayed. God sees this very clearly and will remember this very clearly. You will be rewarded for this in no small way, although at the time of your suffering, this may not be apparent. Let this important Bible passage comfort you and remind you God is watching and remembering all of this now and on the day you and those who hurt you will face judgement.
